Healthy Vodka Fruit Cocktail



There are plenty of vodka drinks and cocktails I would suggest you to try. But this particular recipe really is something I have to share and strongly recommend for any of my close friends. It’s that good believe me. Easy recipes like this are worth sharing.


Use fresh grapes, oranges, mangos and strawberries to create the perfect concoction. Rather than buying those sugary bottled juices from the supermarket to use as your mixers, you can make you own fresh juice. This drink works perfectly with vodka or tequila, and will help you to stay fit and skinny!

It's ideal for the person doing Crossfit, Insanity, or P90X. Fitness is a lifestyle and most coaches and trainers advise against drinking at all, but if you must, the Healthy Vodka Fruit Cocktail is the best way to go!

Recipe

1.5 oz. (45 ml) vodka
1/4 apple 
1/2 orange
5 grapes
1/4 mango
2 strawberries

Pan Seared Swordfish with White Wine



A highly popular food fish, swordfish have been caught since ancient times in the waters between Sicily and Calabria and is found in their fish recipes. This gave way to the Sicilian style of cooking swordfish, the most popular way of cooking swordfish in the area. 

In moderate quantities, swordfish is a great option to grill. Due to its huge size, it is usually available cut into steaks. Being a firm fish, it can be cooked in healthy food recipes that more delicately textured fish types of fish cannot. It can be popularly cut into chunks and skewered for seafood kebabs or pan seared into juicy, flavorful and healthy dishes.


This easy pan seared swordfish recipe is delicious and easy enough for beginners.

Seared Swordfish With White Wine

You will need a pair of one inch thick swordfish steaks, weighing six ounces each. Pat the fish dry and use salt and pepper to season it. Heat half a tablespoon of olive oil with a tablespoon of unsalted butter in a skillet over a medium to high heat, and then saute three finely sliced shallots with a little salt for a minute. Push them to the side of the pan and add the fish.

Saute it for three minutes, then turn it over and add quarter of a cup of dry white wine, a tablespoon of chopped capers, and a tablespoon of water. Simmer for three minutes or until the fish is cooked right through. Divide it between two serving plates.

Stir a tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley leaves into the sauce and spoon it over the cooked fish. This is great served with potatoes, green beans, and perhaps a glass of lightly chilled Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Blanc on the side.

Seafood and Peanut Stew



Rather than spend a lot of time preparing gourmet recipes, or a traditional roast turkey with all its usual accompaniments, keep that for Thanksgiving this year and plan a spectacular seafood recipe instead. And apparently, that’s the very thing inside the mind of the inventor of “Seafood Kare-kare”, a traditional dish from the Philippines.



Traditionally, Kare-Kare is cooked with beef tripe, ox tail or leg. And uses freshly ground roasted peanuts and ground rice to make a thick and flavorful stew. 

Gladly, there are ready kare-kare mix now available in the market, so you wont have to do the grounding of peanuts and rice. If you're not fond of eating pork or beef meat and are a fan of easy recipes like stews, you can have seafoods as substitute in cooking Kare-Kare.

Easy Beef Casserole



For the well-versed cook, cooking beef recipes should be one of the skills he or she should master. After all, this type of meat is one of the most popular ingredients to cook healthy food recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 


 Easy Beef Casserole is a deliciously simple main meal. Succulent beef pieces are slow cooked with potatoes, carrots, onion, garlic and tomato to create a filling, satisfying stew. INGREDIENTS

  • 500g Beef Steak (Diced Small)
  • 6 Shortcut Rindless Bacon Slices, Diced (optional)
  • 1 Cup (250g) of Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper (to season)
  • 3 Large Potatoes (Washed, Peeled, Diced)
  • 1 Large Carrot (Washed, Peeled, Diced)
  • 1 Large Brown Onion (Peeled and Chopped)
  • 1-2 Cloves of Garlic (Crushed, about 2 Teaspoons)
  • 4 Cups of Liquid Beef Stock
  • 1 Teaspoon of Cornflour (mixed in some hot water)

Serves 6 - 8

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 - 6 Hours (on LOW) or 2 -3 Hours (on HIGH)

Gluten-Free Tortillas




Are you following a gluten-free diet? You wouldn’t need to completely cut off bread or anything baked or cooked with flour when you have quinoa. Cooking recipes with quinoa instead of flour lets you create healthier and gluten-free food. These seeds are so versatile you can incorporate them into many different dishes or even create your own quinoa recipes.  

These delicious, gluten-free tortilla breads make an exciting alternative to regular wheat tortillas, and have the delicious flavour of raw quinoa as well!

Quinoa Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
  1. 250g Quinoa Flour
  2. 150ml Hot water
  3. 2 tbsps Olive Oil
  4. 1 tsp Salt
Instructions
  1. Start off by mixing the quinoa flour with half of the oil and salt in a bowl. When blended well, pour over the hot water, adding a little extra if necessary and combine to form a dough. Knead gently for a few minutes before covering with the rest of the oil and allowing to stand for about 10 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into roughly 10 equally sized pieces. Shape the pieces into small balls between your hands and then, on a heavily floured board, roll each piece into a rough circle. If you find the dough seems very fragile, immediately push it back together again into a dough and then make the ball again before rolling out carefully once more, being sure it forms a good circle. Repeat until all discs are cut like this.
  3. Heat a large frying pan on the stove. You will not need oil! Transfer in the tortilla when the pan is very hot. Cook the tortillas on each side, for about 60 seconds or so, depending on how hot the pan is, until you have this kind of "patchy brown" effect, before flipping and cooking the other side. Keep the breads warm and humid until you plan on using them and enjoy!
